Full Description of Position

Reporting in to the Associate Director Market Access supports the development and implementation of the Market Access Strategy (clinical added value, pricing, economic value and reimbursement strategy) for the designated therapeutic areas.


Responsible to manage, prepare and develop reimbursement dossiers for health authorities and payers.


Achieve, maintain and/or increment the reimbursement/access conditions for the Portuguese patients.


Coordinate and implement all required internal processes with Global Pricing and all other internal stakeholders for Annual Reference exercise or net prices changes in Portugal.


Contribute to secure favorable and sustainable public policies on access to healthcare.


Key responsibilities for this role include, but not limited to:


  • Understands and uses several sorts of information, such as medical, epidemiological and economic to prepare documents to support the value proposition of Organon products and support interactions with the various stakeholders in the reimbursement and access processes at national and hospital levels.

  • Develops and implements a strategy to promote the value propositions in all therapeutic areas.

  • Manages cross-functional teams such as Local Access Teams.

  • Through analysis of the therapeutic value of our innovative drugs vs. their expected impact on the health insurance budget, propose price and reimbursement modalities that will allow fair pricing and favourable reimbursement conditions for the patients who need them.

  • Identify data gaps and prepare and execute the necessary outcome research data to support therapeutic areas during it?s lifecycle.

  • Through long term analysis of the market, build price and reimbursement strategies that will ensure competitive positioning of drugs vs. comparators, throughout their whole lifecycle.

  • Collaborate closely with local and international colleagues from External Affairs, Pricing, KAM, Outcome Research, Regulatory, Marketing, Medical and Market Research, to ensure alignment on market access strategies, coordinate local actions and ensure the collection and analysis of useful observational or market research data.

  • Advise the Global/Regional Access teams on data that will be needed locally for the products in the pipeline according to their lifecycle.

  • Benchmark, share best practices and interact efficiently with colleagues from other countries, the region or headquarters.

  • Contribute to an optimal labelling of new products, together with the Regulatory Affairs Manager and the concerned Product Manager/Medical Affairs Manager, in order to guarantee a smooth registration/pricing/reimbursement process.

  • In close collaboration with Medical and Marketing, seek advice and support from Key Scientific Leaders and, if adequate, patient organizations

  • Seek support from key decision-makers and to obtain positive advice and secure optimal reimbursement conditions.

  • Collaborate internally in order to shape public policies on access. Identify risks and opportunities, define priorities.

  • Ensure a customer-centric approach towards the members of the price and reimbursement commissions, DGS, ARS and USF?s if applied and local health institutions

  • Responsible for the Annual Price Referencing


Education, Skills & Experience Required


EDUCATION


  • University degree (pharmacist, master in sciences, pharmaco-economist, or similar will be a plus), with HE training preferable


EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, a CRO or a healthcare organization

  • Preferred: experience in price, reimbursement management and Pharmacoeconomics, with good knowledge of processes/rules/regulation in Portugal.

  • Good insight of the market access environment and key customers, strong interest in health policies and the healthcare system in general

  • Experience in similar roles

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of staff, and comfortable working closely with senior leaders in an organization;

  • Fluency in spoken and written English;

  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools;
