Admission Requirements:

M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Electronics Engineering or Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Physics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a grade point average not inferior to 14 on a 20 point scale,

Preference will be given to candidates having concluded a dissertation topic involving signal processing and with a solid background in Digital Signal Processing with C/C++ or Matlab. The candidates must be enrolled or willing to enroll in a doctoral program on Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Work Objectives:
The PLIVE project has as its main objectives the development of technologies for the efficient and reliable representation, coding and quality evaluation of 3D point clouds, light fields and digital holograms. The research activities to be carried out in the context of this grant will be focused on point clouds (including LiDAR) or light field images depending on the selected person profile and preferences. In particular new solutions based on Deep Learning will be sought to develop cutting-edge technology. The solutions developed will be showcased through demonstrations in a prototype platform and public presentations taking the form of oral communications and written reports as well as scientific papers to be submitted for publication in international journals.

Place of work:
The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at Coimbra, under the supervision of Professor Luis A. da Silva Cruz.

Duration:
9 months with the possibility of renewal by up to 12 additional months. Start date: 1st of March 2021 (or soon thereafter).

Monthly salary:
1.074,64 ? (net), according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Each criteria, and the final classification F will be evaluated in a scale (0-20). The candidates will be ordered according to:

F = C1 x 40% + C2 x 30% + C3 x 20% + C4 x 10%

In case of a tie, the tied candidates will be ordered according to C1, then C2...
