How will you make an impact?
Working in the MSD division in the area of Vibrational spectroscopy, the Senior market development specialist will develop a network of contacts to attract new clients, research new market opportunities, develop excellent relations with key partners.
Overall you will be focusing on generating new sales opportunities to achieve sales targets in the defined target areas.
If you are curious about new technology and would like to be at the forefront of introducing new tech into the UK and EMEA markets, then this role would suit well. Business development experience where you have sold gas analysers or in process spectroscopy or similar is needed
What will you do?



  • Short term plan involves developing market for our range of gas analysers based on infrared spectroscopy and for near infrared process analysers. Role will evolve as candidate matures and new opportunities will be presented as other product lines are introduced in the market.

  • Build and maintain balanced pipeline of sales opportunities

  • Drive Commercial Excellence for the commercial teams through the deployment of robust business development activities including, weekly sales calls, utilization of customer relationship management (CRM) tools and the conversion of marketing leads to opportunities.

  • Deeply understands account organizations and has ability to develop trust and valued relationships with major decision makers, clarifies goals and reaches agreement while maintaining the interests of all parties.

  • Works closely with the Sales team, Field Application Specialists, Service teams and respective Marketing teams.

  • Join sales calls with the EMEA team and support through technical and business presentations, when required, tradeshows, user meetings, customer seminars and other customer events.

  • Supervise and share market intelligence including competition; macroeconomics and the regulatory environment.

  • Leverage global and regional marketing teams to support local sales strategies and markets, including new product introduction (NPI) and deliver on incremental revenue targets for NPI.

  • Partner with your peers, globally and in the region, to formulate cross-functional strategies


How will you get here?



  • Proven sales/business development experience in the following markets Chemical manufacturing, Healthcare, Semiconductor, Beverage, Automotive or Air separation, selling gas analysers or in process spectroscopy or similar

  • Solid understanding of GC and FTIR

  • Excellent interpersonal skills ? confident building relationships with internal and external contacts

  • Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific by clearly and consistently presenting Thermo Fisher Scientific mission, vision, values and objectives to end-user customers

  • Achieve quarterly and annual bookings and new customer targets

  • Must be able to travel across the EMEA region about 40% of your time
