Finance Manager Full-time

About us:

Damia Portugal is a 2-year old business, on a fast-paced growth curve and is now of sufficient size to require a full-time senior finance person to manage and support the business as it scales in operation


In our second year of trading (2019), we achieved ?1m of turnover with plans to double that in year 3 and continue with significant double-digit growth in all future years


We operate in IT Services and Consulting, providing senior technical consulting and sourcing solutions to our clients, who range in scale from start-up operations through to global enterprises with established operations in Portugal. We have also just established a software development operation, supporting both domestic and international clients.



About the Role:

The role of the Finance Manager is both Strategic and Operational - to manage the operational control of the business and act as the support and compliance to the Managing Partner is the more strategic activities of the business.



Responsibilities:

Control and Governance


  • Ensure the company?s cash position and forecasting are maintained, reconciled and accurate - ensure smooth trading periods and funds to cover all strategic goals;

  • Daily cash management and control of payments to suppliers / invoicing to clients, State payments ? VAT, IRS, SS, annual company tax;

  • Sign-off on monthly salaries and payments ? manage the bank payments and control documents to support the payments;

  • Strong Debtor Management and cost control (especially as the business scales);

  • Production of the standard reporting packs ? weekly sales pipeline/KPI?s; monthly Management Accounts ? all supported by analysis and notes and fully reconciled to audit level;

  • Manage key relationships with external stakeholders ? accountants, legal, bank, local Government, other key partners in the supply chain, for example;

  • Review all commercial and employment contracts for compliance prior to sign-off by the Partners;

  • To support the Partners in the managing and reporting of all risks;

Strategic

  • Provide the Managing Partners with timely & accurate financial information;

  • Manage and own the annual budget cycle and any long-term business plans;

  • Support the Partner on key strategic initiatives ? for example, client bids and proposals, reviewing commercial contracts for risk and compliance, business to business engagements and relationships;

  • Be the Finance Business Partner to the company, available to support where necessary on all financial and commercial initiatives;

Core Competencies

:

  • Fully qualified accountant;

  • Excellent written and spoken English language is essential;

  • Strong MS Office skills essential;

  • Ability to work in a rapidly expanding operation ? and scale the operational processes and controls in line with the growth ? experience of similar working environments would be an advantage;

  • Experience of working within a professional services business would be important;

  • Experience of working as part of a senior management team ? with operational leadership;

  • Experience of using finance skills within a broader business role ? linking with commercial, sales, strategic;

  • Ability to multi-task at all levels ? not scared to work on detailed technical analysis and reconciliations, then moving on to a strategic engagements;
