The Position


This position is a field-based Medical Affairs role that reports to the Medical Director in Portugal and will be a member of the Clinical Medical Regulatory (CMR) Department. As Regional Medical Advisor (RMA) it is your responsibility to:


  • be a scientific expert on the cross-therapy portfolio within Cardiometabolism: i.e Diabetes, Obesity and Cardiovascular Disease.

  • plan, execute and disseminate up-to-date medical knowledge and clinical trial data, leveraging scientific and clinical expertise with regional and national KOLs, ensuring they are aware of and understand the scientific basis and clinical usefulness of NN products.
  • lead the development of regional medical advisory services for KOLs in support of regional and national strategic objectives, for Cardiometabolism.


The main outcome of the job is to deploy Regional Medical Affairs projects to meaningfully impact patients with Cardiometabolic diseases and/or support the HCPs who treat them.



Your key responsibilities will be:


  • Identifying, contacting, developing and maintaining relations with KOLs and major institutions in the health care sector

  • Supporting medical and scientific communications in line with medical strategy

  • Contributing to medical-marketing strategy, through g aining and communicating internally the insights from KOLs
  • Providing high quality medical and scientific support, education and training to HCPs

  • Briefing of external expert speakers prior to presentations at Novo Nordisk promotional meetings

  • Responding to unsolicited requests for medical information from KOLs and the scientific community

  • Following-up and actioning ad-hoc opportunities that may arise e.g. patient pathway development, sponsorship and partnering opportunities


Qualifications, experience and mindset


  • Medical Doctor or University Degree in Bio-Medical Sciences. PhD is a plus.
  • Sound therapy area knowledge in Diabetes, Obesity and/or Cardiovascular Disease
  • Prior experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry for at least 2 years, in a field-based Medical Affairs role, is required.
  • Prior experience in Cardiometabolism therapy area for at least 2 years is desirable.
  • Project Management experience is desirable.

  • Business understanding is a plus (e.g. at least 2 years? experience in the pharmaceutical industry or MBA)

  • To be collaborative, proactive, and diligent, with strong accountability and the ability to balance multiple responsibilities while sustaining operational excellency.
  • You should have high interpersonal and communication skills and feel comfortable operating and influencing at multiple levels.
  • Feeling comfortable challenging the status quo with a new idea as you are with making it happen.
  • To be an agile learner who is focused on continuous improvement. A problem-solver at heart, you thrive in finding and implementing solutions.

The Clinical, Medical and Regulatory (CMR) department at Novo Nordisk is one of the most diverse and collaborative group within the organisation.
